Honoring Our Past, Growing for Our Future
Since opening our doors over 40 years ago, The Center has been a vital anchor for The Dalles and the greater Mid-Columbia region. We believe in healthy, connected aging—and that community happens when grandparents, grandchildren, neighbors, and friends share the same roof.
Today, our current facility is bursting at the seams. To ensure we can serve our growing region for the next 40 years, we are embarking on a major renovation and expansion.
What the Expansion Brings to Our Community
Our plans build upon the heart of what makes The Center special, creating a safe, comfortable, and fully accessible hub for everyone:

A New Second Floor & 5,000 New Square Feet. This will expand our physical footprint by 40% to comfortably host events, classes, and activities simultaneously.

Five New Multi-Purpose Rooms. Dedicated, flexible spaces for clubs, lifelong learning, exercise, civic meetings, and social gatherings.

A Spacious New Library. A quiet, comfortable space featuring natural lighting, cozy seating, and small-group gathering areas.

An Expanded NU-2-U Shop. Bringing more room for quality, affordable clothing and household essentials that directly support our local community.

Modernized Accessibility & Comfort. Updated entryway, elevator access, and improved amenities designed for easy mobility for all ages and abilities.
